Washing machine repair, fridge and cooker repairs in Chișinău: 2026 prices and when it no longer pays

What do call-out and diagnosis cost for appliance repair in Chișinău?

First comes the visit: the technician opens the appliance and finds the fault. Lists treat diagnosis differently:

• Free if you go ahead: repteh.md (opens in a new tab) and service-reparatii.md (opens in a new tab) charge 200 lei only if you refuse; holodilnik.md (opens in a new tab) includes it in the repair price.
• Charged separately: pic.md (opens in a new tab) asks from 200 lei for the visit plus 250 lei for diagnosis; TehnoDoctor in Bălți, 100 lei plus 200 lei.
• May be included: mesterpro.md (opens in a new tab) charges 250 lei, which can go into the repair total.
• On the platforms: 100–200 lei for a washing machine and 100–400 lei for a fridge on remont.md, 100–300 lei on mesterulmeu.md (opens in a new tab).

On makler.md (opens in a new tab), some technicians advertise free diagnosis with a repair or free travel in Chișinău; ask beforehand what refusing and out-of-town travel cost.

How much does washing machine repair cost in 2026?

Labour only. remont.md publishes market-analysis ranges (updated 16.10.2026); the other lists give “from” prices.

What does the error code tell you?

• Bosch E18/F18, Samsung 5C/5E, LG OE: it won't drain, because of a clogged filter, something stuck in the pump or a burnt-out pump.
• Samsung 4C/4E: no water coming in; the inlet valve, inlet screen or door lock may be at fault.
• Bosch E23/F23: Aquastop has tripped: water in the base tray from a split seal or hose.
• Whirlpool, Indesit F08/F05: the heating circuit or the pressure switch; LG LE: motor overload.

A code points to the faulty circuit, not necessarily the part (examples from service-reparatii.md's error table (opens in a new tab)). Note the exact code. How much do washing machine parts cost?

The part is almost always extra. On 29.10.2026 we compared two shops with their own repair service: pic.md in Chișinău and TehnoDoctor in Bălți.

Bearings are replaced as a set of two plus the seal; for 6204 and 6205 bearings it costs 145 + 155 + 140 = 440 lei at pic.md. A sealed tub has to be cut open and sealed again, hence labour from 1,200 lei. If the drum has a lot of play or the tub is cracked, compare the quote with a new machine.

How much does fridge repair cost?

Electrical faults (thermostat, relay, sensors) are cheap; the refrigeration circuit (leaks, refrigerant, compressor) is expensive. holodilnik.md and TehnoDoctor publish fixed prices, parts excluded.

Parts: at TehnoDoctor (opens in a new tab), 8 of 10 compressors, for household R600a fridges, cost 1,760–1,920 lei; thermostats 120–712 lei, defrost heaters 187–573 lei. At holodilnik.md (opens in a new tab), half of the 98 door gaskets cost 661–1,152 lei.

No Frost: the freezer works, the fridge doesn't

If the bottom is cold while the top warms up, or ice builds up on the back wall, have the defrost system checked first: the heater, sensor, timer and fan. Labour is 280–700 lei on remont.md, far less than a compressor.

How much does cooker and oven repair cost?

A gas cooker is not a job for just any technician. Government Decision No. 552/2017 (opens in a new tab) requires gas appliances in homes to be serviced by specialised companies in the State Register of industrial facilities and potentially dangerous technical installations (points 628 and 649). Without authorisation you may not repair or replace a gas installation, alter the appliance or disable its safety system (annex 3, point 8). The operators' rates:

How much does dishwasher repair cost?

On remont.md (opens in a new tab) (updated 16.10.2026), a dishwasher that won't drain costs 250–700 lei in labour and one that won't heat 350–1,200 lei; mesterulmeu.md gives 300–900 lei, TehnoDoctor 1,035–1,675 lei. The costly part is the circulation pump, 1,296–3,678 lei at TehnoDoctor and 1,680–2,940 lei at pic.md: on an old machine, do the sums first.

Repair at home or in a workshop?

Washing machines and fridges are usually repaired at home, often the same day (mesterpro.md, holodilnik.md). At pic.md, a courier takes the appliance to the workshop (from 80 lei each way in Chișinău) and repairs take a day to a week; repteh.md charges 200 lei for one-way transport. Under warranty, the seller carries appliances over 10 kg.

Authorised service centre or independent technician?

Under warranty, go to the seller or the service centre on the warranty card: the repair is free, and if an outside technician has opened the appliance, the seller may blame you for the fault. After the warranty, choose freely: large service centres such as Bomba's (opens in a new tab) also repair out of warranty but quote by phone; independent technicians publish “from” prices and often come the same day.

By law, an out-of-warranty repair carries at least 6 months' guarantee; the lists promise 6–12 months (holodilnik.md, service-reparatii.md) or up to 12 (repteh.md). Ask for a receipt and a guarantee card.

What are your rights while the appliance is under warranty?

Moldova's Law No. 105/2003 on consumer protection, in the text published by ISSPNPC, gives you these rights for a new appliance:

• A 2-year legal guarantee from delivery, or the commercial warranty if longer (warranty period (opens in a new tab)).
• The first year favours you: a fault found within 12 months is presumed to have existed at delivery; tell the seller within 2 months of noticing it.
• Everything free: transport, diagnosis, removal, fitting, labour and parts, which must be new (non-conforming products (opens in a new tab)).
• 14 calendar days at most for the repair, unless you agree otherwise in writing, with a written receipt if the seller keeps the appliance.
• A loan appliance within 3 days for household electrical appliances during the repair; the seller carries appliances over 10 kg.
• A replacement or refund if it can't be repaired or has been out of action for over 10% of the warranty period; after 14 days without a repair, a price cut is also an option. Repair time extends the warranty.

A working appliance can't be returned because you changed your mind: household appliances are on the list of goods that can't be exchanged (opens in a new tab). After a paid repair, the provider must fix defects free within 14 days of your complaint (non-conforming services (opens in a new tab)). Is it worth repairing, or is a new appliance better?

For years, Consumer Reports advised against repairs costing over 50% of a new product; it now also weighs price and age, using data on 528,000 products. A typical appliance is expected to last about 10 years (NerdWallet, 2023 (opens in a new tab)). Our working rule, an estimate rather than a standard: remaining value = price of a comparable new appliance × years left out of 10. If the repair costs less, repair it.

At 5 years, the same fridge would be worth ≈5,890 lei (11,789 × 5/10), so a new compressor would pay. But the cheapest fridge-freezer costs 3,799 lei, and a new gas cooker (opens in a new tab) has a median price of 5,999 lei, so a 150–200 lei service almost always pays.

How should you describe the fault to get a fair price?

A fair price needs the exact model: Bosch says the model number (E-Nr.) is on a sticker or rating plate on the appliance, and some services also need the FD and Z-Nr. (Bosch (opens in a new tab)).

How do you avoid being overcharged?

• “The compressor is dead.” Ask what was measured: a fridge that won't start may just need a start relay or thermostat (320–500 lei labour on remont.md).
• Refrigerant, but no leak found. A sealed circuit doesn't use up refrigerant; a recharge without fixing the leak (1,100–1,600 lei at TehnoDoctor) may not last.
• “You need a new board.” Ask about repairing it: 320–1,050 lei on remont.md; repteh.md restores a part for 50% of a new one's price.
• A “from” price, then extras. Get a written estimate after diagnosis, before any work.
• Paying up front. Pay after testing; service-reparatii.md only takes payment at the end.

How do prices differ in Chișinău, Bălți, Cahul and the villages?

Almost every list comes from Chișinău, so we don't give city averages. Reference points:

• Bălți: TehnoDoctor (opens in a new tab) (also in Comrat) charges 845–1,430 lei for a washing machine repair, minor to complex (≈50% more if urgent), and 1,100 lei for a compressor, above many Chișinău lists; Bălți-Gaz services a cooker for less, 115.23–161.19 lei against 145.87–204.23 lei.
• Cahul: Cahul-gaz only shows regulated tariffs; mesterulmeu.md gives Cahul (opens in a new tab) and Bălți (opens in a new tab) the same range, 236–729 lei, with no breakdown. Ask for a written price.
• Villages: travel costs 5 lei/km outside Chișinău at repteh.md and 4 lei/km both ways at holodilnik.md, so ≈240 lei for a village 30 km away. Ask if the technician brings the part, or you pay for two trips.
