PVC windows in Moldova: what a window, its installation and winter adjustment cost (2026)

In October 2026, a single-sash 700×1400 mm PVC window starts at €80–81 (≈ 1,620–1,640 lei) without installation at Kameleon and Grafitex, and a three-sash 2100×1400 mm window costs €228–542 at Grafitex, depending on profile and glazing. Installation is often extra, at 250–450 lei/m² or 400–1,500 lei per window, and adjusting one sash before winter costs 100–350 lei at window-service firms in Chișinău.

How to read the figures

Prices published by Moldovan companies and platforms, checked on 23 October 2026. “From” is the lowest price on the list; the final price is set after measuring. Euro amounts are converted at the official BNM rate of the same day (€1 = 20.1989 lei) and rounded to 10 lei.

How much does a PVC window cost in Moldova in 2026?

The price depends on size, profile, glass and how many sashes open. The most detailed public list is from Grafitex, a VEKA partner: three sizes, four profile systems.

Sources: Grafitex (opens in a new tab), first four rows (installation is set in the quote), and Kameleon (opens in a new tab) (prices valid on 8 July 2026, without installation; sills from €12 per linear metre, insect screens €15–35).

Per m², ferestretermopan.md (opens in a new tab) (20 May 2026) quotes, without installation, 1,800–2,200 lei (5 chambers, standard double glazing), 2,400–2,900 lei (Low-E double glazing with argon), 3,000–3,500 lei (6 chambers, triple glazing) and 3,800–4,500 lei (7 chambers). Evro Okna (opens in a new tab) lists packages with installation from 2,500, 3,000 and 3,500 lei, without sizes.

What moves the price: the profile (at the same size, Softline 82 costs 2.3–2.4 times as much as WHS 60), the glass, how many sashes open (a fixed pane saves €40–60 at Kameleon) and the hardware (Grafitex fits TTS or Winkhaus); remont.md adds the floor, the lift and removing old windows.

Windows for typical Chișinău block series

EKO-OKNA (opens in a new tab) prices windows by block type (KBE profile; undated page, installation not specified): series 143, 1440×1410 mm — €180, 1760×1410 mm — €215; Khrushchev-era blocks, 1300×1520 mm — €180, 1720×1520 mm — €227; MS series, 1300×1450 mm — €174, 2050×1450 mm — €239.

What do chambers, U-value and Low-E glass mean?

Window terms in plain words, with figures published by manufacturers

U-valueHeat lost through 1 m², in W/m²K: the lower, the better. Uw is the whole window, Uf the frame, Ug the glass (VEKA).VEKA Softline 70: Uf up to 1.3; Softline 82 MD: Uf up to 1.0 and Uw 0.74 with triple glazing
Profile chambersThe air cavities inside the profile; modern systems have up to 7 (VEKA).from 4 chambers and 60 mm to 7 chambers and 82 mm (Grafitex)
Glazing chambersA “one-chamber” unit has 2 panes, a “two-chamber” unit 3 panes (Evro Okna); 4-16-4 means glass, gap and glass, in mm.24–32 mm double glazing, 44 mm triple glazing (Grafitex)
Low-E and argonA very thin metal coating on the glass and an inert gas between the panes (VEKA).double glazing with argon: Ug 2.6 without Low-E, 1.0 with Low-E (Saint-Gobain)
Triple glazingThree panes, two gas-filled gaps; Uw below 1.0 is possible (VEKA).Ug 0.5–0.7 (Saint-Gobain); 0.6 at Kameleon

In practice: ask for the Uw value of your configuration, not just the number of chambers (Kameleon states conformity with the European window standard EN 14351-1). The cheapest gain is Low-E glass with argon.

Warm or cold? Warm PVC glazing weighs 80–140 kg per linear metre, and old slabs may need reinforcing (fabricaderolete.md); cold aluminium weighs about a third as much and keeps the balcony 5–7 °C warmer than outside in winter. Sills, insulation and a roof are extra. If you extend the balcony or change the façade, ask the town hall (primăria) whether you need a permit.

“Winter mode”. Service firms sell a “winter–summer” adjustment (at MEGAINSTALL it is part of the 150–350 lei per-sash package). VEKA (opens in a new tab), however, says modern windows are airtight all year, the effect is small, and turning the locking cams wrongly with an Allen key damages the hardware and seals; a draught usually means a worn seal. For 7 sashes: 700 lei plus the call-out at Steklopaket, or 1,050–2,450 lei at MEGAINSTALL.

The autumn check in four steps

  1. 1

    The paper test

Trap a sheet of paper between the sash and the frame and close the window, at several points. If the paper slides out easily, have a specialist adjust it (VEKA).

  2. 2

    The seals

Look for cracks and hardened sections. On a 1400×1400 mm window with two sashes, the sash outline is ≈ 8.4 m: a new seal costs ≈ 270–420 lei.

  3. 3

    The hardware

Lubricate the moving parts at least once a year with acid- and resin-free oil (VEKA (opens in a new tab)).

  4. 4

    The drainage

Vacuum the rebate and clear the drainage slots in the frame with a toothpick (VEKA). Autumn is also the time to service the gas boiler.

What does a proper installation look like, and what do you check at handover?

The joint has three layers. The illbruck i3 (opens in a new tab) system describes an inner layer that stops humid air (otherwise condensation forms in the joint), the foam in the middle, which insulates and must stay dry, and an outer layer that is tight against driving rain but open to vapour: “inside tighter than outside”. VEKA recommends installation to the RAL guidelines; ferestretermopan.md lists a missing outer pre-compressed tape as a common mistake. illbruck FM110 (opens in a new tab) foam is applied at 5–30 °C, while fabricaderolete.md says it installs down to −15 °C with winter foam: in winter, ask which foam is used.

The company does the measuring: the window must fit the opening to the millimetre (VEKA). Kameleon measures with a laser within 2–4 days, and its quote is valid for 30 days; production takes 10–14 days at Kameleon and 10–20 working days at Grafitex. Kameleon fits up to 5 windows in a day; VEKA (opens in a new tab) allows about three hours per window, sealing included.

At handover

  • Every sash opens, tilts and closes without effort, and all locking points engage (VEKA).
  • The paper test passes all round each sash.
  • No draught along the sill and reveals: the joint between frame and wall is sealed all round.
  • No foam is visible: it is covered inside and protected from rain outside.
  • The drainage slots are clear, and the drip sill is firmly fixed.
  • You get the contract, a written warranty and the glazing specification (Kameleon also hands over the window passports).

Why do double-glazed windows fog up, and what can you do?

  • On the inside: the air is too humid and the glass is the coldest surface (VEKA (opens in a new tab)). Keep humidity at 40–60%, open the windows wide for 5–10 minutes 2–4 times a day and don’t dry laundry in the rooms.
  • On the outside, in the morning: normal for well-insulated glazing; it clears by late morning (VEKA).
  • Between the panes: according to VEKA (opens in a new tab), the sign of an old, poorly insulating window; a new glass unit costs from 500 lei at MEGAINSTALL, fitted.
  • With humidity below 60%: if the glass still fogs up, the window insulates too poorly (VEKA); a plastic spacer between the panes (“warm edge”) and a fully sealed joint help.

What warranty and payment terms should you ask for?

Published warranties: Grafitex, 5 years on the product; Kameleon, 5 years on PVC and 7 on aluminium (elsewhere it says “up to 10 years”: ask for the figure in the contract); Evro Okna, 3, 5 or 7 years by package and 1–2 years on installation; fabricaderolete.md, 5 years on profile and hardware and 2 on installation, with free sash adjustment under warranty. Ask for separate terms for profile, glass, hardware and installation. Kameleon asks for a 50% advance at signing or offers interest-free instalments. More in the guide to contracts, advances and handover.

Are there grants for new windows in 2026?

For detached houses, the Casa Verde (opens in a new tab) programme of CNED, the National Centre for Sustainable Energy, also funds energy-efficient exterior windows and doors: up to 50% of the works, capped at 200,000 lei. The call that opened on 18 March 2026 closed once the maximum number of applications was reached (Moldova 1 (opens in a new tab)); the next round is announced for 2027 (Ziar.md (opens in a new tab), 16 October 2026). For blocks, FEERM (opens in a new tab) covers 70% through the owners’ association, but its example is windows in common areas. For houses, see also insulation prices.

Windows in Bălți, Cahul and other towns: what should you compare?

Kameleon says it has installation teams in Chișinău, Bălți and Cahul; Grafitex installs in Chișinău, Bălți and other localities (12 branches); fabricaderolete.md also glazes balconies in Bălți, Ungheni, Cahul, Orhei and Soroca. None of them publishes regional prices. Outside Chișinău, ask whether measuring and delivery are free, where the team travels from, who comes for warranty adjustments and what the minimum order is.

What should you put in your request, and what must the quote state?

In your request

  • Town, block series or house, floor and lift.
  • Width and height of each opening, measured from inside, and how many sashes open.
  • The profile and glass you want, sills, drip sills, reveals, screens, removal and rubble.
  • Photos from inside and outside, and your preferred dates.

In the quote

  • Profile system, glass specification (for example 4-16Ar-4 Low-E), Uw and hardware brand.
  • What installation includes: sealing layers, sill, drip sill, reveals, transport.
  • Currency, exchange-rate rule (Grafitex: the BNM rate on the day of calculation) and how long the price is valid.
  • Advance, deadlines and separate warranties for profile, glass, hardware and installation.

What mistakes and red flags should you avoid?

  • A price per window without sizes, profile and glass specification: there is nothing to compare.
  • Installation with foam only, left uncovered, with no tape inside or outside.
  • “We’ll fit them tomorrow” for made-to-measure windows: production takes at least 10 days (Kameleon, Grafitex).
  • Solvents or chlorine on the seals and a do-it-yourself “winter mode”: VEKA warns that both damage the seals.
  • How to compare quotes and check a company: where to find a reliable tradesperson.

Methodology: where the figures come from

We used price lists published by manufacturers and installation and service firms, the reference prices of the platforms remont.md, mesterulmeu.md, lumeamesterilor.md, construct.md and euroremont-md.com, technical data from VEKA, Saint-Gobain and illbruck, and CNED announcements, all checked on 23 October 2026; undated lists are treated as prices displayed on that day. These are asking prices from companies, not market averages. We did not use individual classified ads.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a PVC window cost in Moldova in 2026?

A single-sash 700×1400 mm PVC window starts at €80–81 (≈ 1,620–1,640 lei) without installation at Kameleon and Grafitex; a 1400×1400 mm window costs €157–370 at Grafitex, depending on profile and glass. Per m², ferestretermopan.md quotes 1,800–4,500 lei without installation.

How much does it cost to install a PVC window?

Installation costs 250–450 lei/m² according to ferestretermopan.md and 400–1,500 lei per window on remont.md; removing the old window costs 250 lei at euroremont-md.com. Some companies include installation in the price, others don’t.

How much does it cost to adjust PVC windows for winter?

Adjusting one sash costs 100 lei at Steklopaket and OkonRemont and 150–350 lei in the MEGAINSTALL package, with lubrication and a check-up; a new seal costs 32–50 lei per metre. VEKA advises against a do-it-yourself “winter mode”: for draughts, call a specialist.

Why do double-glazed windows fog up on the inside?

Condensation forms on the inside when the room air is too humid and the glass is the coldest surface. VEKA recommends 40–60% humidity and airing wide open 2–4 times a day; if humidity is below 60% and the glass still fogs up, the window insulates too poorly.

How much does it cost to glaze a balcony with PVC?

A straight 1550×3000 mm balcony with warm PVC glazing starts at €511 (≈ 10,320 lei) turnkey at fabricaderolete.md, the cold aluminium option at €299. Labour alone costs 350–900 lei/m².

Does the state pay for new windows in 2026?

The Casa Verde programme funds up to 50% of the works, capped at 200,000 lei, windows included, but only for detached houses; the March 2026 call has closed and the next round is announced for 2027. For blocks, the FEERM programme covers 70% through the owners’ association, with windows in common areas as its example.
